About Joe Neunder

Joe Neunder is a family man, small business owner, and healthcare provider who has spent the last three years fighting to protect Sarasota County residents as a conservative voice on the County Commission.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Joe moved to Sarasota County as a teenager. He swam competitively for Swim Florida and Venice High School before graduating from Pine View School. He went on to attend Florida’s public universities and earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine from Life University in Georgia.

Joe returned home to Sarasota to open his practice and raise his family. As a County Commissioner, he has focused on fighting to keep government accountable and reining in spending, working to protect taxpayers while maintaining essential services. He led the effort to reopen Midnight Pass, which, along with natural forces, has significantly improved water quality and strengthened the aquaculture of Sarasota Bay.

Most importantly, Joe has consistently prioritized protecting Sarasota County’s quality of life. He has supported critical infrastructure improvements, helped establish a dedicated stormwater division, and taken a principled approach to restricting development approvals. As the pace and scale of development increased, Joe applied that experience, listened to the community, and became an even stronger advocate for restrained growth and protecting established neighborhoods.

Joe’s commitment to the community runs deep. He has served on the Evalyn Sadlier-Jones Branch YMCA Board of Directors and held roles on the Sarasota County Planning Commission, the City of Venice Historic Preservation Board, and the Venice City Council. His leadership is grounded in real involvement, not just rhetoric.

Above all, Joe is motivated to protect the community for his three sons and their generation. He, his wife Cindy, and their family are active members of Epiphany Cathedral Catholic Church and proudly call North Venice home.
